#35 Big Bugs at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden!
For this week's show we head back to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden to see David Rogers’ Big Bugs + Pollinators. They are beautiful pieces of art with a great educational component too. I'm demonstrating seed starting for a late summer harvest, have a cool native plant to show you along with an outstanding basil which doesn't go to seed. Luke Werner from The Davey Tree Expert Company explains what to do for a crabapple with apple scab.
#34 Fun with a fairy garden and Project Love helps veterans through gardening
This week I'm visiting Project Love, a very special garden, created as a way to help veterans and the neighborhood in the Hill District. I'll introduce you to my granddaughter Hazel and show off our fairy garden along with harvesting beans. I'm showing examples of the garden bargains I've found, along with a trick to get deals on lilies. I'll also answer a question about fig trees and how to get them through winter. Luke Werner from The Davey Tree Expert Company gives us the low down on oak wilt, how to prevent and how to treat for the disease.
#33 The Iron Garden
This week I travel to Rankin to see the Carrie Furnace National Historic Landmark and get a tour of the Iron Garden. It's a unique, wild garden where two blast furnaces once stood.I'm answering a question about what we should NOT grow for ticks, and showing a perennial which blooms from April to November.

This week I'm visiting a the Biblical Garden at Rodef Shalom in Oakland where plants from the bible are used to create an important landscape.I'm also showing off a huge hardy tropical plant, explaining why watering is so boring, celebrating happy cucumbers, suggesting a small tree for a garden friend and Luke Werner from The Davey Tree Expert Company continues our watering talk, explaining how to give the trees the water they need.
