Shade Loving Plants from KDKA-TV

It might be too cold for tender plants like tomatoes, but this is the perfect time to plant perennials.
This week on KDKA’s Pitsburgh Today Live I talked about shade loving perennials from Hahn Nursery in Ross.
One of my favorites is brunnera, it blooms with blue flowers, is tough and will last for 50 years in the garden.
The Japanese painted fern is another plant I love. They are silver and purple, will thrive in deep shade but need moisture.
Sedges are good choices for grass like plants in the shade.
Spiderwort grows has pretty dark blue flowers and the variety I used on TV had bright yellow foliage.
Get out in the garden and plant some perennials, they come back year after year and most spead over the seasons.
